Tata Motors started bookings for its upcoming hatchback, the Tiago, from March 10. The Tiago is not just a new car for Tata Motors, but it also the torchbearer for upcoming Tata cars that will feature its new design philosophy, christened Impact.
Hence, Tata Motors has been campaigning like never before for the Tiago. The company is offering customers booking the Tiago a chance to meet ace FC Barcelona and Argentina footballer Lionel Messi. The football star was appointed the global brand ambassador of Tata Motors in November 2015.
The Tiago can be booked either online or at any of the Tata dealership with a down payment of Rs 10,000. The participating customer will be asked to complete the sentence "I love Tata Tiago because...," and based on the most creative response, the company will shortlist the first set of qualifiers. The final five winners, selected in a lucky draw, would be eligible to take any one person of their choice to Barcelona and meet Lionel Messi. The winning entries will be announced 30 days after the closure of the promotion period on the dedicated Tiago website.
The Tiago will pack a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. The diesel option is the 1.0-litre three-cylinder Revotorq mill that produces 69bhp of power 4,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,800-3,000rpm. Both engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Upon its launch, expected to take place March 28, Tata Tiago will rival Hyundai i10, Maruti Celerio and other models in its segment.
