Tata Motors is all set to increase prices of its passenger vehicles from January 1, 2018. The home-grown carmaker will hike the prices of its entire passenger vehicles by up to Rs 25,000 owing to rising input costs.
With this development, the introductory prices of the recently launched Nexon compact SUV will go up. The current price range starting from Rs 5.85 lakh for the base petrol version and going up to Rs 9.44 lakh for the top-end diesel unit is very much competitive and it undercuts all of its rivals. Even after the price revision, Tata Nexon will remain the most affordable compact SUV in its segment.
Apart from Nexon, the prices of new models such as the Tiago hatchback, Tigor compact sedan and Hexa SUV will also rise. The long-standing models in Tata's stable like the Safari, Sumo, Indica and Indigo prices will be revised.
"The changing market conditions, rising input costs and various external economic factors have compelled us to consider the price increase. We are optimistic on maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming year on the back of our robust product portfolio like Tiago, Hexa, Tigor and the recently launched Nexon," said Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors.
With the announcement, Tata Motors has joined Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Honda Cars India, Skoda and Isuzu which already announced their decision to hike prices from January next year.
Year-end offer
In a bid to increase the sales in December, Tata Motors has also recently announced 'Mega Offer Max Celebration' campaign for its selected cars. The year-end offer also allows Tata customers to purchase their desired vehicle for a down payment of just Rs 1.
The company is offering savings up to Rs 26,000 on the Tiago hatchback purchase. The Tigor compact sedan is offered with savings up to Rs 32,000 and Zest with Rs 68,000. Among the bigger vehicles, the Hexa is offered with savings up to Rs 78,000. The highest benefit is for Safari Storme purchase. The SUV is getting discounts up to Rs 1 lakh in December. The offer depends on the model and variant.
