If the emerging reports on the web are to be believed, Tata Motors' compact sedan Kite will hit the showrooms soon after the launch of kite hatchback.
The latest buzz is that Tata motors, which is gearing up for the launch of Kite hatchback, is also getting ready to surprise the auto lovers in the country with its new Kite sedan. A report in The Economic Times suggests that Tata is likely to price its upcoming compact sedan at Rs 4 lakh, the price of a hatchback.
It seems like with the Kite sedan Tata is getting ready to lay a new platform in the compact sedan segment in India. If this rings true, Tata Kite sedan would become a contender not just in the compact sedan segment, but also to the hatchbacks like Maruti Celerio and Hyundai i10.
According to the report, the Kite -- the sub-four meter sedan of Tata -- is like likely to get 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and new 1.0-litre diesel unit under the hood. The new diesel engine, which is likely to churn out 69bhp of power and 140Nm of peak torque, is also expected to return a fuel efficiency of 25kmpl.
As for transmission, the Kite sedan is expected to get automatic and manual gearbox and we also hear that the company could introduce Bosch's e-clutch system, which is similar to AMT. E-Clutch allows drivers to use manual transmission for the first gear without using the clutch.
