Tata Motors' upcoming hatchback codenamed Kite is probably one of the worst kept secrets in the auto industry, and the story just got bigger when Tata released the 'Made of Great' TVC featuring the new face of the brand -- Argentinean footballer and Spanish club Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.
Now, CarWale has shared a fresh batch images of new Tata Kite which is expected to hit the showrooms in December this year. As usual, in the latest spy shots too, Kite was seen carefully hiding under thick camouflage, thus not revealing any details of the design and the body kit. However, the images are good enough to give a clear idea of the cabin of the new hatchback.
Talking about the interior of Tata Kite, from the latest image, it looks like Kite has got a cabin similar to Bolt and Zest and seemed to have the same steering wheel as in Bolt. The top-end variant of Tata Kite is expected to get Harman infotainment system with a touchscreen display and steering mounted audio and call controls. The hatchback is also expected to get height-adjustable driver seat, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.
Built on a new platform, under the hood, Tata's global hatchback is likely to get a new 1.05-litre three-cylinder common-rail diesel motor that can churn out a power of 64.1bhp and 140Nm of torque and an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Kite is speculated to get e-clutch system similar to AMT that allows drivers to use manual transmission for the first gear without using the clutch.
Expected to be priced at around Rs 4 lakh, Tata Kite will rival Maruti Celerio and the Hyundai Grand i10 in India.
