It is probably the worst-kept secret that Tata Motors is readying a new hatchback codenamed Kite. Now the latest buzz on the Internet is that Tata's kite hatchback is likely to be called Glade, in India.
A new report in GaadiWaadi claims that Tata's Kite hatchback will be monikered Glade, while the sedan will be named Boom. Kite hatchback, a possible replacement to Tata's Indica, is expected to make its market debut by mid- mid-2015 and is likely to carry a price tag of around ₹4 lakh.
The Glade will be pitched against Maruti Celerio and Hyundai Grand i10 in India when launched. Speaking of the features, the Kite hatchback is expected to include the company's new 1.05 litre three-cylinder common-rail diesel motor, which can churn out power of 64.1bhp and 14.27kgm of torque, and the all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine in the engine line-up.
A recent report had suggested that Tata Kite could include e-clutch system, a system similar to AMT, which allows drivers to use manual transmission for first gear without using the clutch. Tata Kite hatchback is likely to have features like body-coloured, rear-view mirrors and diamond-cut eight-wheel alloy wheels.
On the other hand, Tata Kite sedan, the model which is supposedly named Boom, is expected to get power from the 1.2l Revotron engine and the diesel version is likely to be powered by 1.05 liter-3 cylinder turbo diesel.
Caught on camera numerous times, the Tata Kite sedan is expected to get a design similar to the company's recently launched Zest.
