Earlier this week a set of images of Tata Kite 5 compact sedan greeted auto enthusiasts in the country and now a video of the Kite 5 has hit the web, showing the model undergoing tests in Pune. Tata is expected to launch the Kite 5 during the festive season this year.
The video comes from YouTube channel Techbuzz. It shows the Kite 5 in its fully disguised form making its way through a relatively busy road at night. A lot has already been written about the Kite 5 and a recent set of spy images showed the model in Orange body shade. Tata had showcased the Kite 5 in its production-guise at the Auto Expo 2016. Rumours around the web suggest that testing of the Kite 5 is almost done and the model is nearing production at the company's plant.
From what we know so far, the Kite 5, the compact sedan based on the Tiago hatchback, will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options in India. While the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, the all-new 1.05-litre, three-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine will develop 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. The transmission of the Kite 5 is yet to be known.
To be pitted against Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Figo Aspire in India, Tata is yet to reveal the name of the sedan. Rumours suggest that Tata is considering three names — Canvas, Dribble and Ingrid.
