Tata Kite 5 and Honda CB Hornet 160 R received Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Design Excellence awards for 2016. The Kite 5 compact sedan won award for best design in four wheeler passenger vehicle category, while CB Hornet 160R got award for the best design in two wheeler category.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India launched the CB Hornet 160R as a sporty motorcycle in the 150cc segment towards the end of 2015. The angular and edgy design has gone well among the young buyers. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 80,603, ex-showroom Delhi. The motorcycle is powered by a 162.71cc single-cylinder engine that can churn out 14.5bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 14.61Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and also gets Honda Eco Technology (HET).
The CB Hornet 160R faced a tough competition from the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ-S FI V2.0 for the awards reports NDTV Auto. The carbon-fibre-like touch on the fuel tank, X-shaped LED tail lamp and slightly-upward pointing exhaust came in favour of the Honda motorcycle.
The Tata Kite 5 is the compact sedan sibling of the popular Tiago hatchback. The Kite 5 is yet to get launched in the market which is expected in early 2017. Rumoured with the production names Viago and Altigo, the Kite 5 will share the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel motor from the Tiago. The Kite 5 comes with Tata Motors' new Impact design language.
India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has received the CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2016 for its CSR initiatives. Maruti Suzuki's CSR activities covers road safety issues, create employable force by skilling youth in the automobile industry and undertake integrated water, sanitation and school upgradation programmes in village communities.
