Tata Motors has been testing its upcoming Kite 5 compact sedan in India for quite a while now. The car, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in its nearly production-ready guise, has been caught on camera numerous times already. The model has been spied testing yet again.
The Kite 5 compact sedan is expected to make its market entry during the festive season this year, and will probably be launched in September. Caught on camera by IndianAutos blog, the latest spy shot of the Kite 5 shows the orange body shade of the model. However, the test mule is still seen carefully camouflaged, thus not revealing anything new.
From what we know, the Kite 5, the compact sedan based on the Tiago hatchback, measures 3,995mm in length, 1,647mm in width and 1,535mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. Though the name of the Kite 5 is yet to be known, previous reports had said that Tata was considering three names — Canvas, Dribble and Ingrid.
To be offered in both petrol and diesel options in India, under the hood, the Kite 5 will come with 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel motors. While the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, the all-new 1.05-litre, three-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine will develop 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. Both engines will be available with multi-drive modes — Eco and City.
