Tata's upcoming compact sedan, the Kite 5, has been undergoing tests on Indian roads for quite some time now. Adding to the long list of spy images of the Kite 5, here comes another set of images of the sedan, which was caught on camera while undergoing tests.
ThrustZone have managed to capture the camouflaged images of the Kite 5, which is believed to have hit the assembly line for trial production. Judging by the images, the newest offering in the fast-growing sedan segment seems ready to take off.
The Kite 5 compact sedan has been one of the favourites of rumours mills and has been churning news one after the other in regards to the car's design, price and most importantly the launch date. Now it looks like the Kite 5 has reached the final stages of testing and is all set to hit Indian domestic market. Tata's Kite 5 is expected to see the light of the day during the festive season this year.
For the uninitiated, the Kite 5 is based on Tata's popular hatchback Tiago and was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016. In terms of dimension, the compact sedan measures 3,995mm in length, 1,647mm in width and 1,535mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm.
Under the hood, the Kite 5 will come packed with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel motors. While the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, the all-new 1.05-litre, three-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine will develop 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. Both engines will be available with multi-drive modes — Eco and City.
The Kite 5 will be pitched against Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Figo Aspire in India.
