For all those who are eagerly waiting for the compact sedan based on Tata Motor's popular hatchback Tiago, we have a bit of bad news. If the emerging reports are anything to go by, Tata Motors has delayed the launch of Kite 5 compact sedan as the company is looking to price it aggressively.
Tata Kite 5 was expected to hit the Indian roads during the festive season this year. According to Economic Times, Tata is re-looking at the strategy for Kite 5 so as to keep the price in check whilst maintaining quality. Tata is now reportedly looking to launch Kite 5 in 2017. Kite 5 will be a crucial launch for the company to regain its lost charm in the sedan segment.
While Tata has not confirmed the latest development, the company continues to test Kite 5 on Indian roads. When launched, the sedan will take on the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Figo Aspire.
Tata Kite 5 will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel motors. The general consensus is that the success of the Kite 5 will be decided by the pricing of the model. If Tata manages to get it right along with styling and feature package, Kite 5 is expected to have the upper hand in the market.
