A fresh batch of spy images of the Kite 5 has emerged online, showing the compact sedan in its production guise. The images, shared by the Automotive India forum, also reveal the interiors of the upcoming sedan.
Tata is expected to launch the Kite 5 compact sedan in India during the festive season this year. The company had showcased the near-production ready Kite 5 at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. The Kite 5, which is based on the Tiago hatchback, seems to have adopted a rear styling that is different from the other models in its segment, while the interiors of the model share similarities with the hatchback.
The Kite 5 will be offered in both petrol and diesel options in India. Under the hood, the model will come with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel motors. While the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, the all-new 1.05-litre, three-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine will develop 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. Both engines will be available with multi-drive modes — Eco and City.
In terms of dimensions, the compact sedan measure 3,995mm in length, 1,647mm in width and 1,535mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. The Kite 5 will come with safety features that include dual airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Corner Stability Control (CSC).
To be pitted against Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Figo Aspire in India, the upcoming sedan will get chrome Humanity Line at the front that extends into the dual chamber headlamps, LED Tail Lamps and bold shoulder lines.
