Tata Motors is readying a slew of models to be launched in India during the festive season. One of the most anticipated models amongst this is the compact sedan based on the new hatchback Tiago Codenamed Kite 5; the compact sedan from Tata's stable is expected to hit the Indian roads during the festive season this year.
Besides the Kite 5, the Hexa MPV and the Nexon compact SUV are also taking shape at the Tata's plant.
Auto-lovers in India have already seen the Kite 5 countless times in its revealed and camouflaged avatar. The compact sedan was part of Tata's pavilion at the Auto Expo earlier this year along with the company's upcoming passenger cars. Now as we wait to hold the steering wheel of the Kite 5 sedan, here we list the details of the upcoming Tata offering that we know so far.
Based on the Tiago hatchback, the Kite 5 measures 3,995mm in length, 1,647mm in width and 1,535mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. It embodies Tata's new design language Impact.
Kite 5 will be offered in both petrol and diesel options in India. Under the hood, the model will come with 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel motors. While the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, the all-new 1.05-litre, three-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine will develop 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. Both engines will be available with multi-drive modes — Eco and City.
The sedan will get chrome Humanity Line at the front that extends into the dual chamber headlamps, LED Tail Lamps and bold shoulder lines. The Kite 5 also gets integrated roof spoiler.
Kite 5 houses dual airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Corner Stability Control (CSC).
The new car will rival Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Figo Aspire in India.
