Tata Motors' flagship SUV, the Hexa, started reaching dealerships ahead of the launch which is expected in the beginning of November. The home-grown carmaker released much information on the SUV during its India debut at Auto Expo 2016 in February. As the launch near, new information on the features and equipments have emerged online.
Being the flagship model, the Hexa will boast of six airbags and a five-inch touchscreen that comes paired to a JBL's 10-speaker audio system, reports Autocar. A 3.5-inch TFT colour display in the instrument panel will readout the drive-modes and trip-computer data. The interior will also sport dual-tone dashboard and leather-covered captain seats. Other premium additions, such as the LED illumination and mood lighting will be reserved for top-spec model. The cabin is available in both six- and seven-seat configurations
One of the highlights in the Hexa will be the rotary multi-drive mode selector that will be offered on both, all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive variants. The system allows the driver to alter engine, ABS, ESP and AWD settings. This has been developed in co-operation with Tata Motors' British subsidiary Land Rover.
The Hexa will draw power from a 2.2-litre four-cylinder VARICOR diesel engine, which is tuned to generate 154bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 400Nm of torque at 1,700 to 2,700rpm. The engine will be coupled with a choice of either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Tata's new SUV measures 4,764mm in length, 1,895mm in width, 1,780mm of height and has 2,850mm of wheelbase.
On design, the SUV crossover comes with a honeycomb grille with chrome Humanity Line which is the new signature style of Tata vehicles christened as Impact. The SUV sports projector head-lamps, LED daytime running lights, integrated spoiler and roof rails. The price of Hexa is expected to start from Rs 12.5 lakh.
