Spy shots of the Tata Hexa have been doing the rounds on the internet since the company unveiled the vehicle at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. The SUV was caught testing in camouflage many times in the past months and the latest spy picture has been taken by Motorbeam. The Hexa is expected to be launched next month in India.
Measuring 4,764 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width and 1,780 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, the Hexa will be the flagship product of Tata Motors in India. The SUV features new design in line with the Tata motors' new design language began with the Tiago hatchback. The Hexa features black coloured grille, projector headlamps and LED DRLs at the reworked front. The side cladding and alloy wheels on the sides add sportiness. The Christmas tree tail lamp of Aria made way for a conventional unit in the Hexa.
Under the hood, the Hexa comes with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder Varicor diesel engine, which is tuned to generate 154bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 400Nm of torque at 1,700 to 2,700rpm. The engine comes mated to either a 6-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual transmission. In light of diesel vehicle registration ban in Delhi and NCR, Tata Motors may downsize this engine to below 2000cc.
On safety front, the Hexa will boast of six airbags, and anti-lock brake system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD). The Hexa will be pitted against Toyota Innova Crysta and is expected to be priced between Rs. 12 lakh and Rs. 18 lakh.
