Home grown car maker Tata Motors has opened bookings for its new flagship SUV, the Hexa on November 1. Though the online bookings have not started yet, bookings at dealerships seem to have got a good start.
Within the first two days after the start of taking orders, the company has received over 250 bookings for the Hexa, reports ET Auto. The publication also says Tata Motors has decided to launch the Hexa on January 16. An official statement from the company is yet to arrive.
The vehicle is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 11 lakh to 16 lakh and at that price point, Hexa will be a serious threat to the likes of Mahindra XUV 500 and Toyota Innova Crysta.
Under the hood, the Hexa will draw power from a 2.2-litre Varicor engine. While the 2.2–litre Varicor 320 engine will generate 148bhp and 320Nm of torque in the base variants of the Hexa, the same engine in remaining variants will develop 154bhp and 400Nm of torque. While a five speed manual gearbox is offered in the base variant of the Hexa, the six speed manual and automatic gearbox will be offered in the rest of variants. One of the highlights of Hexa is the four drive modes — Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road.
Tata Hexa will feature an array of safety features like airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distribution and hill control. It will also flaunt Harman Kardon infotainment system as standard across all the variants.
Hexa is the second product to feature the Impact design language of Tata Motors. What this means is that the vehicle sports sharp and contemporary looks. The SUV crossover comes with a honeycomb grille with chrome 'Humanity Line'.
