Tata Motors has finally commenced accepting bookings for its upcoming SUV, the Hexa, which is expected to be launched in early 2017. Hexa, one of the most-anticipated models from Tata's stable, is open for bookings for a token amount of Rs 11,000.
Tata will break the cover of the Hexa on January 16 and the SUV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh. The booking amount will be refunded in case of cancellation.
The company is expected to begin the dispatch of test drive models of the Hexa to its respective dealerships soon, reports Team BHP. Tata has already put up a microsite for the upcoming SUV, which gives a sneak peek at the variants and features of the Hexa.
Under the hood, the Hexa is expected to come packed with a 2.2–litre engine. While the 2.2–litre Varicor 320 engine will generate 148bhp of power at 4000rpm and 320Nm at 1700-2700rpm in the base variants of the Hexa, the varicor 400 engine will do duty in other variants of the Hexa. The 2.2-litre engine will be tuned to generate 154bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 400Nm of torque at 1,700 to 2,700rpm.
The transmission in the upcoming Hexa will be handled by three gearbox options -- a five speed manual, a six speed manual and a new six speed automatic. While a five speed manual gearbox will handle the transmission in the base variant of the Hexa, the six speed manual and automatic gearbox will be offered in the rest of variants, which will come powered by the Varicor 400 engine.
The Hexa measures 4,764 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width and 1,780 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The Hexa will come nine trims — five manual (XE 4x2, XM 4x2, XM 4x4, XT 4x2, XT 4x4) and four automatic variants (XMA 4x2, XMA 4x4, XTA 4x2, XTA 4x4). It will house features such as a five-inch touchscreen that comes paired to a JBL's 10-speaker audio system, dual-tone dashboard and LED illumination.
