People waiting to hold the steering wheel of Tata Motors' Hexa will have to wait a little longer as the MPV, which made an appearance at the Auto Expo 2016 earlier this year, is now believed to arrive not before 2017.
Tata Hexa is one of the most-awaited and desired models in the Indian market and was expected to make its entry into the market in November. Now a report of ZigWheels says that the launch of the Hexa is likely to happen only in early 2017 and the company is also expected to open the bookings around the same time. The report also adds that the launch is likely to be scheduled for the second week of January 2017. However, there is no official word on that.
Tata Hexa was part of the company's pavilion at the Auto Expo 2016 and the work on this model has been progressing rapidly since then. The Hexa has made numerous appearances on the web through spy shots and leaked reports with the latest one being from one of the events which showcased the off-road capabilities of the model.
The Hexa will come powered with a 2.2-litre engine tuned to generate 154bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 400Nm of torque at 1,700 to 2,700rpm. The transmission in Hexa will be taken care of by either a six-speed manual or six-speed gearbox. The MPV will feature four drive modes -- Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road.
To be pitted against Toyota Innova Crysta, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner in India, the Hexa is expected to get a price tag starting at Rs 12.5 lakh. In terms of dimension, Hexa measures 4,764 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width and 1,780 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,850 mm and is expected house a five-inch touchscreen that comes paired to a JBL's 10-speaker audio system, dual-tone dashboard and LED illumination.
