Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of its much-awaited Hexa SUV in India in early 2017. Now ahead of its launch, to keep the ball rolling, the company has put up the microsite for its new SUV, giving an early glimpse at the design and the styling of the Hexa.
The Hexa site currently does not have any details to offer about the SUV, but it is open for registration. Tata will open the booking for the Hexa from November 1. Tata Hexa will rival Toyota Innova Crysta, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner in India.
Expected to be offered in a total of nine trims — five manual (XE 4x2, XM 4x2, XM 4x4, XT 4x2, XT 4x4) and four automatic variants (XMA 4x2, XMA 4x4, XTA 4x2, XTA 4x4) -- the Hexa will come powered by a 2.2-litre engine that is tuned to generate 154bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 400Nm of torque at 1,700 to 2,700rpm.
The Hexa is expected to offer ABS as standard and will also include safety features such as EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution), VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control), ROM (Roll-Over Mitigation, with ESP), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistance), HHC/HDC (Hill Hold Control/Hill Descent Control) and TCS (Traction Control System).
In terms of dimension, Hexa measures 4,764 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width and 1,780 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,850 mm and is expected house a five-inch touchscreen that comes paired to a JBL's 10-speaker audio system, dual-tone dashboard and LED illumination.
From the word around the internet, the top-end variant, the Hexa XT, will carry a price tag of Rs 17.49 lakh, while the automatic variant, the Hexa XTA 4×2 AT, will be priced at Rs 17.44 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Pune).
