Tata Motors much-awaited the Hexa SUV is slated for its launch in the Indian market on January 18. The Hexa, which has been earning great response in the Indian market since its unveiling at the Auto Expo 2016 is currently open for bookings in the country and the latest is that the SUV is generating good numbers in terms of bookings too.
Tata opened the Hexa bookings on November 1. Although the exact number of bookings for the Hexa is not known, a latest report of RushLane suggests that the SUV is raking in good numbers and the model has received over 250 bookings in just two days of its pre-booking window opening. The Hexa, the second Tata product bearing the company's new Impact design language will be offered in six variants and nine trims. It will also come with the option of six and seven-seater configurations.
Under the hood, the Hexa is expected to come packed with a 2.2–litre engine. While the 2.2–litre Varicor 320 engine will generate 148bhp of power at 4000rpm and 320Nm at 1700-2700rpm in the base variants of the Hexa, the varicor 400 engine will do duty in other variants of the Hexa. The 2.2-litre engine will be tuned to generate 154bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 400Nm of torque at 1,700 to 2,700rpm.
The transmission in the upcoming Hexa will be handled by three gearbox options -- a five speed manual, a six speed manual and a new six speed automatic. While a five speed manual gearbox will handle the transmission in the base variant of the Hexa, the six speed manual and automatic gearbox will be offered in the rest of variants, which will come powered by the Varicor 400 engine. It will house features such as a five-inch touchscreen that comes paired to a JBL's 10-speaker audio system, dual-tone dashboard and LED illumination.
Tata's upcoming SUV is expected to replicate the Tiago's success in the Indian market with competitive price tag. Expected to be priced in the range of Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, the Hexa will be pitted against Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra XUV500.
