Tata Motors' new Nano avatar GenX Nano, which was launched in India in May, has reportedly clocked 3,000 bookings within a month of entering the market.
A report in Business Standard says Tata Motors has already delivered 1,000 units of GenX Nano to buyers and will be delivering another 2,000 units shortly. Nano's new avatar, the first in the Nano line-up with AMT variant, was launched in India on 19 May for a price starting at ₹1.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Although there were apprehensions about the success of the new avatar of Nano, given that the previous models of the car had failed to impress buyers, the latest figure indicates that Tata has been able to smudge away the negativity around Nano to some extend with its new-gen model.
The report adds that the waiting period of Nano GenX AMT has been extended to six weeks due to constraints in the supply of AMT boxes; the manual version enjoys a waiting period of two weeks.
Powered by 624 cc twin-cylinder engine, which can churn out a power of 38bhp and 51Nm of peak torque, the new Nano GenX comes mated to either a 5-speed AMT gearbox or a 4-speed manual transmission.
Nano GenX come with features such as openable hatch, body-coloured bumpers and smoked headlamps. Inside the cabin, the new Nano AMT gets Black and Silver seat upholstery, three-spoke Tata signature steering wheel and AmphiStream Music System with CD, MP3 and AUX-in connectivity.
