It has been awhile since we heard anything about Tata's upcoming hatchback Bolt.
Now a new report that has emerged on the web says that the launch of Bolt has been delayed until 2015.
Bolt, a hatchback from the Tata's stable was first seen at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 alongside the company's recently launched Zest sedan.
Although the car was rumoured to make its debut along with Zest, Tata decided to keep the auto lovers waiting.
Now a recent IndiaToday report suggests that the auto enthusiasts may have to wait little longer as Tata plans to push the release of Bolt to next year. Apparently, Tata does not want to divert the attention from its Zest sedan, which is doing good business in the market and does not want to club the launch of cars and overshadow each other.
To an avid reader, Tata Bolt is not new. The car has made numerous appearances on the web through spy pics and leaked reports.
Regarding the specifications, Bolt will be offered in both diesel and petrol engine options. The petrol Bolt will be powered by 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged engine, which can churn out a power of 84 bhp at 5,000 rpm and a torque of 140 Nm of 1,750-3,500 rpm and the diesel model will get power from 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel motor.
Underpinning X1 platform, the new hatchback is likely to carry features like audio system with MapMyIndia GPS, touchscreen and voice commands, center console, infotainment system, electric power steering in place of Tata Indica Vista's hydraulic unit, projector headlamps and LED tail lamps.
In India, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i10, i20, Honda Jazz, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo will be the main rivals of Tata Bolt and going by the rumours, the car will fall in the ₹7 lakh price range.
In another development, Zest sedan has garnered over 10,000 bookings in India within three weeks of its entry into the market. Zest, India's most affordable diesel AMT was launched on 12 August and is offered in both diesel and petrol engine options.
While the petrol model is powered by turbocharged 1.2-liter Revotron engine, which is tuned to produce a 90 PS (88.73 bhp) of power and 140 Nm of torque, the diesel Zest model comes with 1.3-litre Multijet motor, that is capable of churning out 88.8 bhp of power and 200Nm torque.
