A prototype of Tata's upcoming Bolt hatchback has been spied testing in India again, this time in Lavasa.
The prototype, which was spotted by the folks at Carwale gives almost nothing away as it was seen camouflaged, but the auto enthusiasts in the country will already be having a clear picture of what to expect from the Tata's upcoming hatchback.
Bolt, a car which was previewed at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 was expected to make its debut this year. But the recent reports indicate that Bolt will not make its debut until 2015 as the company's current focus is on its recently launched Zest sedan. However, latest spy shots that we stumbled upon suggest that Tata is still testing its Bolt rigorously in the country.
From the photos, the prototype looks production ready, but did not have alloy wheels. The styling of Tata Bolt shares similarities with Tata Zest and the interior of the car is seen donned in Orange colour.
As we already know, under the hood, Tata bolt will pack 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged engine and 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel motor. While the petrol Bolt is tuned to generate 84 bhp at 5,000 rpm and a torque of 140 Nm of 1,750-3,500 rpm, the diesel model of the car will generate 73 bhp and peak torque of 190 Nm.
The car is expected to feature audio system with MapMyIndia GPS, touchscreen and voice commands, center console, infotainment system, electric power steering, projector headlamps and LED tail lamps.
Tata Bolt will face fierce competition in the Indian domestic market from Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i10, i20, Honda Jazz, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo and from what we heard so far, the car will get a price tag in the ₹7 lakh ranges.
Meanwhile, Tata's recently launched Zest sedan has been getting good attention from the auto lovers in the country and the company crossed more than 10,000 bookings within days of its launch.
Zest, India's first sedan with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) is offered in both diesel and petrol engine options. While the petrol model is powered by turbocharged 1.2-liter Revotron engine, which is tuned to produce a 90 PS (88.73 bhp) of power and 140 Nm of torque, the diesel Zest model comes with 1.3-litre Multijet motor, that is capable of churning out 88.8 bhp of power and 200Nm torque.
