Bollywood and television actor Vishal Thakkar has been taken into police custody after a rape case was filed against him. A television actress on Saturday alleged that the "Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltaah Chashma" actor raped her in his house.
Vishal was absconding since Saturday after a complaint was filed against him with the Charkop Police in Kandivali. A case was registered against the actor under IPC sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 323, 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation), Charkop police station's senior inspector Ramchandra Gaikwad told Press Trust of India.
After a three-day hunt, police tracked him near Borivali, Mumbai, and arrested him. On Tuesday, he was produced before the Borivali Magistrate Court, which remanded him to police custody till Wednesday, IANS reports.
Vishal is known for his role in Sanjay Dutt's film "Munna Bhai MBBS". He has also worked in films, including "Tango Charlie" and "Chandni Bar". He has also worked in television serials, including "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah", " Geet Hui Sabse Parayi", " Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil" and others.
