Priyanka Chopra has earned a fresh set of fans after she gave a fitting reply to Tanmay Bhat's tweet that made fun of the actress' accent.
The stand-up comedian had first tweeted, "When I say @priyankachopra's name in my head I now automatically pronounce it like "Priyaaaanka Chopruh" [sic]."
To this, the "Baywatch" actress responded on Twitter, saying, "I'm supposed to have the accent @thetanmay what happened to u? Lol [sic]." Tanmay was also apparently impressed by the "Quantico" actress' reply, and said, "@priyankachopra hahahaha, slay! ;) [sic]."
While both Tanmay and Priyanka took the jokes in good humour, the actress' fans were not amused by the comedian's tweet and lashed out at him on the micro-blogging site. They also praised PeeCee for her response.
Responding to the criticism from her fans, Tanmay again tweeted, "PC fans, kyu mujhpe chadh rahe ho, it was meant to be a compliment what is wrong with some of you smh [sic]."
Priyanka too tried to calm done her fans, saying, "Guys it was a joke!! From me and him!! Comedy is the smartest form of entertainment!and @thetanmay has it down!xoxo [sic]."
Tanmay had earlier courted a major controversy by sharing a video on Snapchat in which he was seen mocking Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar. He was then heavily lambasted by fans of the superstars, and many well-known figures. His Snapchat video had become an issue of debate on national television and had remained in news for quite some time.
Priyanka, who recently wrapped up the shooting of her Hollywood debut film "Baywatch," is currently busy filming the second season of the American TV series, "Quantico."
