CS Amudhan-directorial Tamizh Padam 2 has turned out to be an unexpected "blockbuster" of 2018. The movie, which is made with a moderate budget, has done exceptionally well across the state in Tamil Nadu as well as a few overseas centres.
Going by the trade reports, Tamizh Padam 2 has grossed about Rs 26 crore by the end of its second weekend in Tamil Nadu. After earning around Rs 17 crore in five days, the movie added about Rs 9 crore in the next six days, giving good profits to the distributors.
In Chennai alone, the movie has minted an astounding Rs 3.83 crore in 11 days. The business has been really good in Chengalpet.
Among the overseas centres, Tamizh Padam 2 has earned Rs 1.58 crore in the US. Interestingly, it has done better collection than Karthi's Kadaikutty Singam, which has collected Rs 69.85 lakh.
The Shiva-starrer has earned Rs 14.95 lakh in the UK and Ireland box office, Rs 34.29 lakh in Australia and Rs 9.92 lakh in Australia, as per Bollywood Hungama.
Tamizh Padam 2 is a spoof movie, which takes dig at the popular movies released between 2010 and 2018. The humour part backed by a good screenplay and a brilliant performance by Shiva has helped the movie connect with the audience. Notably, the film has not hurt the fans of A-list actors, whose iconic sequences have been trolled in CS Amudhan's creation.
However, the business is likely to slow down as the big movies like Vijay Sethupathi's Junga and Trisha Krishnan's Mohini are hitting the screens this weekend.
