At least three construction workers died and 12 were left injured when an under-construction church in Palayamkottai town of Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli district collapsed late on Wednesday night.
The Fire and Rescue Service personnel have rescued the bodies of the deceased workers, while the injured have been rushed to a local government hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
The rescue operation at the accident site is underway.
The police officials suspect that the accident took place due to inadequate scaffolding, according to news report.
The incident took place at St Peter's Church, which was under construction at Xavier Nagar in the town, also known as "Oxford of South India".
