Subramanian, a close associate and business partner of AIADMK (Amma) minister C Vijayabaskar, was found dead in his garden of his residence in the Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu on Monday, May 8.
Subramanian was one of the people whose residence was raided by the officials of the Coimbatore Regional Inspectorate in April in connection with a cash-for-votes scam that happened in the run up to the Radhakrishna Nagar bypoll in the state, local media reported. The bypolls were cancelled after the scam was unearthed.
Officials had said that several documents were recovered from Subramanian's residence during the raids. The income-tax department had also conducted raids at the residences of several ministers and well-known personalities in connection with the scam.
