Silambarasan aka Simbu launched the team song of Tamil Nadu Premier League's Madurai Super Giants on Wednesday. Captain Virender Sehwag was also there and remained the prime attraction of the event organised at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Chennai's upscale Alwarpet neighbourhood.
The team jersey and logo were also unveiled in the star-studded event. Apart from Simbu, several Tamil and Telugu film industry personalities including S Thaman and Anirudh Ravichander interacted with mediapersons and fans.
The three-week T20 tournament is modelled along the lines of the popular Indian Premier League (IPL). Madurai Super Giants is owned by Kothari (Madras) INT LTD.
Tamil Nadu Premiere League
Tamil Nadu Premiere League is a tournament organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association to discover new talents from the state. The event will help budding cricketers to showcase their skills and could help them to play the next level of cricket.
Eight teams are playing for the prize money of Rs. 1 crore, while the runners-up will receive Rs. 60 lakh. A total of 27 matches will be played among the eight teams divided into two groups.
Twelve games each will be played at Chennai and Natham and the remaining three games will be held at Tirunelveli. The tournament will begin on the conclusion of India's tour of West Indies.
The tournament will be aired on Star network.
