Chinmayi Sripaada, who actively shares her views on most of the societal issues, has slammed the attacks on officials from Tamil Nadu by cow vigilantes in Rajasthan.
The singer took to Twitter and called the persons who took the law into their hands as fools. She tweeted, "Sign of utter joblessness. If they had a job they'd have no time. Unless this is their job and they are paid for this. Loosu pasanga. [sic]" Musician Vijay Yesudas responded to the tweet by posting, "What if it is their job? And they r paid for it?? Scary no? [sic]"
"They must be. How to feed family otherwise. This is no different from brainwashing kids into joining the Isis. [sic]" Chinmayi said.
A mob attacked staff and officials of the Tamil Nadu government's animal husbandry department suspecting that the cattle were being smuggled for slaughter. The incident occurred in Barmer city in Rajasthan on Sunday, June 11.
After taking the necessary permission from the authorities, the Tamil Nadu officials had purchased 50 cows and calves in Rajasthan and were bringing them to the south state when the furious mob attacked them. The National Highway 15 was blocked by the gau rakshaks for close to three hours.
About 50 people were arrested for injuring four people and setting vehicles ablaze.
