An explosion at a private engineering college in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu killed one person, while injuring three others on Saturday. The blast has reportedly damaged the property as well.
Witnesses claimed that they saw a heavy object hit the ground, inside the Bharathidasan Engineering College, creating a two-foot deep crater, NDTV reports. The investigators suspect a "drone-like object" to be responsible for the blast.
"We are investigating the case thoroughly and should be able to get more information soon," Senthil Kumari, the District Superintendent of Police, said.
Kamaraj, a bus driver at the college, died while being rushed to the hospital.
Three gardenerers, who were working in the area, were injured in the blast. They have been admitted to a local hospital, the Press Trust of India reported.
Windshields and window panes of at least five buses and college buildings were also reportedly damaged. The matter is being probed.
