Bollywood movie "Tamasha" has got a decent opening at the Indian box office, but has failed to beat the first day collection record of Ranbir Kapoor's "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" (YJHD) and "Besharam".

"Tamasha", which had decent advance bookings, was released in 2,100 cinema halls across India and it opened to a good response. The film registered an average of 40+ occupancy in both single screens and multiplexes in the morning show on Friday. The movie received positive reviews from the viewers and critics and the word of mouth took its business upwards in the afternoon and evening shows.
Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer "Tamasha" has collected approximately Rs 10.87 crore at the Indian box office on the first day. Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Tamasha Fri ₹ 10.87 cr. Strong at plexes/metros. India biz."

"Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" has collected Rs 19.45 crore nett from 3,100 screens at the domestic box office on the first day and it was the biggest opener for Ranbir Kapoor. His 2014 release "Besharam" collected Rs 21.56 crore from 3,600 screens on its first day and turned the biggest opener for the actor.
Now, Ranbir Kapoor's latest outing "Tamasha" has to beat the records of "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" and "Besharam". The reason for this failure is that the movie has been released in lesser number of cinema halls across the country that those two movies. It has become the third biggest opener for the actor.
However, Ranbir Kapoor has scored to big flops in 2015. His movies "Roy" and "Bombay Velvet" were released in theatres on 13 February and 15 May and collected Rs 10.40 crore and Rs 5.20 crore respectively at the Indian box office on the first day. "Tamasha" has now brought a smile on the face of the actor by getting decent opening.

Tamasha has also debuted with decent response in the key international markets like US, UAE, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
