Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer "Tamasha" box office collection continues to drop at the box office, but even with the slow pace, the film has managed to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in India.
"Tamasha", directed by Imtiaz Ali, earned approximately Rs 50.69 crore in its six-day run in India.
"#Tamasha continues to slide downwards. Fri 10.94 cr, Sat 13.17 cr, Sun 14.12 cr, Mon 5.07 cr, Tue 4.07 cr, Wed 3.32 cr. Total: ₹ 50.69 cr," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The business of Ranbir-Deepika was decent during its opening weekend, but it started to drop from its fourth day onwards. However, the film has performed better than several other releases of this year.
With Rs 50 crore net income, "Tamasha" has shattered the lifetime box office collection records of Varun Dhawan's "Badlapur" and Kapil Sharma's debut film "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon".
Varun's "Badlapur" earned Rs 50.07 crore in its four-week run, while Kapil's "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon" minted Rs 49.38 crore. After smashing the records of "Badlapur" and "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon", "Tamasha" has become Bollywood's 14th highest grosser of 2015.
The next target of "Tamasha" is to break the Rs 54.19 crore mark set by Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif's film "Phantom".
In other news, the lead actor of the film Ranbir, who was praised for his performance in "Tamasha", said that it is his responsibility to give "good films" to his fans.
"It's my responsibility that I give good films to my fans. My last few films didn't work, but my approach towards my work has not changed. I felt bad that I had let down my fans with few flop films, but I just hope I do better and entertain them again," Ranbir said, according to IANS.
