Actress Tamannaah Bhatia is all set to replace Shruti Haasan in Nagarjuna and Karthi's much-hyped bilingual film, which is being shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil languages.
Prasad V Potluri, who is producing Nagarjuna and Karthi's untitled film under the banner PVP Cinema, has approached Tamannaah to play the female lead role, which was supposed to be played by Shruti Haasan earlier. The actress liked the script and has expressed her willingness to come on board.
So the makers have reportedly roped her in as a replacement for Shruti Haasan. "Tamannaah has been approached and she's elated to be part of the project. She's working on her date diary to ensure that her call sheet to this film doesn't clash with that of other films," a source told The Times of India.
Tamannaah has earlier worked with Karthi in Tamil film "Paiyaa", which was also dubbed and released in Telugu as "Awara". Both Tamil and Telugu versions have become big hits at the box office and their amazing chemistry was one of the main reasons for its success. Now, she will be seen romancing him again. Trade analysts say that this movie will also be a big money spinner at ticket counters.
Initially, Shruti Haasan was roped in to play the female lead in the film, but she walked out of the project in March 2015, citing date issues. The production house, which claimed that her dates were allotted as per her convenience, initiated civil and criminal charges against her.
The Nampally city court restricted Shruti Haasan from signing any new films and ordered Banjara Hills police to investigate the matter. Later, the production house withdrew the case in April after R Sarathkumar and S Thanu intervened. The actress returned the advance amount and also agreed to perform an item number in the production house's next film "Size Zero" for free as compensation.
