Reema Kagti's second directorial venture "Talaash: The Answer Lies Within" has raked in ₹84.82 crore at the domestic box office at the end of its second week.
The collections of the suspense thriller, which stars Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor, was affected by Akshay Kumar's latest film "Khiladi 786".
The murder mystery in its second week grossed ₹16.75 crore, taking the overall 13-day domestic box office total to ₹84.82 crore.
The second week breakup of the film, according to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh is ₹2.40 crore on Friday, ₹4.14 crore on Saturday, ₹4.80 crore on Sunday, ₹1.51 crore on Monday, ₹1.41 crore on Tuesday, ₹1.26 crore on Wednesday and ₹1.23 crore on Thursday.
The movie, which was released across 2500 screens in India and 520 screens overseas on Friday, was made on a budget of ₹40 crore.
"Held well at prime multiplexes over the weekend and also on weekdays. Mumbai circuit has performed the best," Adarsh said.
The suspense thriller and murder mystery, which is the first of its kind for Aamir, received mixed reviews from film critics. The movie collected fantastic figures in its first week, but the business declined drastically the week after.
Taking note of its second week collections, it appears that the film might not be able to cross the ₹100 crore mark at the domestic box office.
On the overseas front, the movie has done excellent business and is a super hit among audiences.
"Talaash" is jointly produced by Excel Entertainment and Aamir Khan Productions. Besides the three big stars, the movie also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Raj Kumar Yadav, Shernaz Patel and Bengali actor Subrat Dutta in supporting roles.
