Reema Kagti's second directorial film "Talaash: The Answer Lies Within" is riding high on the box office ticket collection window. The movie opened to a tremendous response on the first day and made better business the following day.
"Talaash", featuring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee, released across 2500 screens in India and 520 screens overseas on Friday.
On its opening day, the movie raked in ₹14.52 crore and on Saturday it grossed ₹16.37 crore in India, taking the overall domestic total to ₹30.89 crore, according to trade analyst and film critic, Taran Adarsh.
"#Talaash Sat trends: Looks like 16 cr today," Adarsh tweeted.
"#Talaash held exceedingly well on Saturday in India and Overseas. The business jumped across *all* major markets," Adarsh tweeted on Sunday.
The suspense thriller is also entertaining audiences overseas, collecting approximately ₹12.27 crore in just two days.
In the UK, the movie collected a total of ₹2.27 crore (£ 260,936), ₹2.66 crore ($ 490,000) in the US, ₹5.98 crore ($ 1,102,000) in the UAE and GCC, ₹1.09 crore (A$ 193,267) in Australia and ₹27.71 lacs (NZ$ 62,250) in New Zealand, Adarsh said.
Now, the approximate worldwide collection of the movie stands at ₹43.16 crore. The suspense thriller, which was made at a budget of ₹40 crore, received positive to mixed reviews from film critics.
"Talaash" is Reema Kagti's second directorial venture after "Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd", which was released in 2007. The murder mystery is jointly produced by Excel Entertainment and Aamir Khan Productions.
The film also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Raj Kumar Yadav, Shernaz Patel and Bengali actor Subrat Dutta in supporting roles.
