Tagg Digital is steadily making strides in the highly competitive Indian market dominated by big brands such as JBL, Sennheiser and Bose among others.
One of the main reasons is that Tagg has been consistent in delivering numerous headgears and speakers with low pricing and yet offer good sound quality. Now, it has released the new Sonic Angle 1 for just Rs 2,499 and will available on leading e-commerce sites—Flipkart, Amazon and also on official TAGG digital e-store starting today.
I had the opportunity to test the Tagg Sonic Angle 1 well before the launch and here's my take on it.
Design and build quality:
Tagg Sonic Angle 1 comes in a unique triangular prism structure with curved corners. The lateral sides are entirely made of the high-grade metallic grille and we can see two speakers up front on the sides, it comes with silicone-based caps on either side, one having Tagg branding and on the other, with tactile buttons—power on/off, Bluetooth on/off, link and volume rockers. It also comes with LED pairing indicator on the top right corner.
As far as build quality is concerned, it is very sturdy when held in hand and can easily sustain accidental drops. That being said, we don't encourage consumers to drop speaker just to test its durability, as internal components can get damaged.
Tagg Sonic Angle 1 comes with water splashing-resistant IP5X certification, which is a pretty good deal for a device priced under Rs 2,500. There are hardly any brands in the market that think of durability of the device. With this feature, consumers can take it outdoors as well without having to worry about getting accidental water spills on the device or get it drenched in the rain. But, make sure to wash off the water with the cloth and dry it before you begin to use it again.
User interface:
Setting up the Tagg Sonic Angle 1 is as easy it can get. Just switch on the Bluetooth speaker, the device's female voice says it on and also tells the battery level- medium, full and low. To connect to a smartphone, you just have tap the Bluetooth icon on the left side and within minutes, it appears on the phone's screen and voila, it's connected.
Once paired, you just have switched on the speaker it will automatically search for pairing device and you are good to go.
It also supports Siri and Google Assistant and if you have paired it with an iPhone or an Android mobile, you can change tracks just with voice commands.
It also comes with 3.5 mm audio jack cords, users can plug into laptops or even phones to play music.
Sound Quality:
This is the most important aspect of the Tagg Sonic Angle 1and it did not disappoint me at all. For its compact size, the loudness is really impressive. Even when putting it in full volume, the clarity of the vocal singer was clear to hear. The audio quality remained pretty good across all genres of the music.
Also, this single Bluetooth speaker is loud enough to create a party vibe be it a small room and even bigger living room hallway in my house.
Tagg Sonic Angle 1 comes with a 2,200mAh rechargeable cell; though it sounds low, I was pleasantly surprised with the battery life. It can blast music for more than nine hours in single charge.
Pros:
- Refreshing prism design
- Compact structure yet packs a powerful loudspeakers
- Exceptionally good build quality
- Simple interface
- Long battery life
Cons:
- It takes a bit longer to get fully charged
- For its price, there is nothing serious to complain at all.
