Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit Nene is gearing up to return to acting in films, but it seems that Tabu's fans might have to wait for some more time for the actress to comeback on silver screen.
The two time National award winning actress has reportedly turned down Anubhav Sinha's, Gulab Gang, because she wanted to play the lead role in the movie, which is being played by Madhuri.
The actress was believed to have been offered the role of a corrupt politician in the movie, but she turned down the offer.
Madhuri plays the lead role in the movie who supervises an all-female group that fights to protect women in a rural set-up.
However, a source close to the 40-year-old said that she did not want to act with Madhuri.
"Tabu refused the film because she wanted to play Madhuri's role of a female vigilante who heads a group of women who help other fight social injustice," New York Daily news quoted a source from the film's unit as saying.
"The politician's role is just as strong as Madhuri's. Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor and other actors have also been approached," the source added.
"I was approached for the protagonist's role many years ago. Because of lack of funds, the film never went on the floor. They may have tried to get in touch with me this time, but we haven't had a fresh meeting. Reports of me wanting Madhuri's role are baseless," Tabu said.
The movie Gulab Gang came into lime light only after Madhuri was signed for the film. The movie is the directorial debut of former journalist Soumik Sen.
However, it is said that Sinha and Sen are now planning to approach actress Raveena Tandon or Karisha Kapoor for Tabu's role.
