Television actress Garima Goel, who was recently seen in a cameo role in sitcom "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah," was allegedly poisoned by her domestic help at her residence in Mumbai.
According to a report in Telly Chakkar, the incident occurred on Feb. 24. Garima and her husband Dharmesh Thakkar complained of stomach ache after having some of the food prepared by the domestic help. The two were immediately rushed to Hinduja Hospital and later shifted to Lilavati Hospital.
"The food, which was cooked by our servant Santosh, tasted unusual and the colour was also a bit different. After eating a little, we became unconscious. I felt as if someone was choking my throat and I could not breathe properly. Even my husband complained of a paralytic attack. Luckily, my brother did not eat the food, so he called an ambulance for help," Garima told Telly Chakkar.
"First we were taken to Hinduja hospital and were later shifted to Lilavati hospital. With God's grace, we are fine, but it will take a few days for the poison to completely wash out from our systems," she added.
While the family is still recovering from the mishap, the police has arrested the domestic help who was suspected to be behind the incident.
"It was my servant Santosh and his motive was to spike our food and rob the house. After the incident, he went missing, but the police caught him near Nashik. He is right now behind the bars and strict actions will be taken against him," Garima added.
According to the Times of India, the police suspected that the domestic help, who was hired by the family a month ago, had planned to rob the family. He mixed a poisonous flower, Datura, in the food of Garima's family.
Garima is best remembered for her roles in "Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha...Pyaara Pyaara" and "Gulmohar Grand." The actress had also featured in "Crime Patrol," and "Savdhaan India."
