England batsman Jason Roy has said his side are extremely buzzing to have reached the final of the 2016 T20 World Cup after thrashing New Zealand by seven wickets in the semi-final on Wednesday 30 March.
The 25-year-old Surrey player put in a man of the match performance in the semi-final, striking a career-best 78 runs off 44 balls. Alex Hales, Joe Root and Jos Buttler also weighed in as England easily chased the 153 target set by the Black Caps at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi with 17 balls to spare.
Speaking after the match, Roy spoke of his delight at reaching Sundays final. Today was as good as it probably gets to winning a Twenty20 game. Although, there are obviously a few bits we need to work on. We had to claw back because they got off to a good start and credit to the boys for dragging it back, he said.
After the first game (it) was pretty far away and after all the training and the effort that the boys had put in, its something that were extremely buzzing for. Its going to be an incredible experience and (I) cant wait, Roy added.
England, the 2010 champions, now meet the winners of the other semi final match between hosts India and the West Indies. The final will be played on 3 April at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
