Islamic State (Isis) militants in the Syrian city of Raqqa, which is its de facto capital, has made it mandatory for all school teachers, including the retired ones, to repent for committing the crime of teaching Muslim children from course books written by infidels, an activist group reported.
The Syrian underground activist group claimed that Isis recently issued a circular in Raqqa, asking all school teachers including those who retired long ago to go to the local mosque and seek for forgiveness.
Activist group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently, which has obtained the copy of the Isis circular, stated the entire teaching staff in the city has been asked to go to the mosque to repent for their crime of "dependence on the Infidel Nusayri Educational System".
Isis has threatened to even kill those who fail to comply by the new rule.
The activist group stated that in the past there have been several instances when Isis confiscated the properties and homes of the Syrian teachers after declaring them as apostates.
The Isis circular states that the school teachers will need to bring two passport size photos and a patron who can vouch for him or her.
