"Switched at Birth" Season 5 will premiere in 2016 and after a 10-month jump we will meet the "swisters" Daphne (Katie Leclerc) and Bay (Vanessa Marano) somewhere between February and June. With the upcoming season, "Switched at Birth" will hopefully speak for the Downs Syndrome community, as it did for the deaf community.
In Season 5 Episode 1 "The Call", we will finally learn what the phone call that Bay received in the final moments of Season 4 was all about. She ran out of her tattoo studio, all the way to Daphne's road-side clinic to reveal some shocking news, but as of now we do not know what it is.
What we do know is that it concerns both the girls, leaving the list very long. It could be about John (D. W. Moffett) and Kathryn (Lea Thompson) and how they may be getting a divorce. The last we saw them, the Kennishes were having some financial trouble, resulting in marital trouble. Although Kathryn was as supportive as she could be of her husband, John has been a little difficult to deal with.
When Kathryn did blow up, and demanded that she too be allowed to freak out, it came across as something John had long coming. Moreover, Craig's (Samuel Page) return is also a reason for Kathryn to reanalyze her life and realise that she deserves so much more than what is being dealt to her.
As sad as a Kennish divorce would be, it would genuinely be heartbreaking to contemplate on bad news for any other character; be it Toby (Lucas Grabeel), his wife Lily (Rachel Shenton) or Regina (Constance Marie). However, if a small, non-fatal accident suffered by Mingo (Adam Hagenbuch) or Travis (Ryan Lane) would bring either of the couples closer, we are all for it.
