Despite all efforts to contain swine flu epidemic, the number of new cases continue to rise in the country.
Hyderabad reported the first two deaths from swine flu in the year on Tuesday. The victims are two men, aged 62 and 23. Moreover, 11 people tested positive for the virus on the same day. Some of the new cases were reported from Nallakunta, Yakutpura, Banjara Hills and King Koti and includes one woman and three men aged 80, 62, 57 and 30, respectively.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana witnessed 16 H1N1 deaths last year. More than 100 swine flu cases have been reported from these states so far. Till date, at least 70 cases have been reported from Hyderabad alone.
Odisha witnessed a second case after a 37-year-old man from Bayababa Math in Bhubaneswar tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. A 65-year-old man from Khordha district of Odisha too is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital city.
Meanwhile, the virus claimed two more lives in Rajasthan, taking the toll from the infection to seven this year. Reports show that 19 people were undergoing treatment for swine flu. The deaths were reported from Udaipur, Jaipur, Kota, Tonk, Barmer and Banswara city.
In Haryana, four people tested positive for H1N1 on Monday. A 45-year-old man from Jind succumbed to the infection last week.
Dehra Dun in Uttarakhand recorded its first case this week.
Ten people tested positive for the deadly disease in Delhi on Tuesday. The patients include four women, 5 men and a toddler. The national capital, so far, has lost four lives to the deadly virus.
Maharashtra was put on high alert after two people died of swine flu in Pune this week.
