If you are a patron of Maruti Suzuki and are planning to buy a car, take a look at these upcoming cars instead of picking out something that is already on roads.
While Maruti Suzuki is known for small car offerings in India, it has some big plans for the country. The company, which has already stolen hearts with Ciaz in the Indian market, is now readying an array of new cars for auto aficionado.
Here is a list of cars that are expected to arrive in the domestic market from Maruti's stable in the next couple of months.
- Maruti Swift Dzire Facelift
Maruti Suzuki's facelift version of its popular Swift Dzire sedan is expected to arrive in the Indian market soon. Although the car has been linked to different launch dates, it is now being said that the auto lovers will see the car on the road by January 2015.
Designed to rival Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest, the upcoming Swift Dzire facelift is expected to pack the same 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre multijet diesel engines under the hood. Features expected include electrically adjustable wing mirrors, new upholstery, push start/stop button and six-speaker sound system with Bluetooth and iPod compatibility music system.
The car is expected to fall in the price range of ₹5 lakh to ₹8 lakh.
- Maruti SX4 S-Cross
Expected to reach Indian shores in 2015, the SX4 S-Cross is currently in the testing phase in the country. The Maruti's new crossover will draw power from its 1.6-litre diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 118bhp with a peak torque of 32kgm and the transmission is likely to come from a six-speed manual gearbox.
The SX4 S-Cross will rival Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano in India and is expected to get a price tag of around ₹13 lakh. The car is likely to feature Suzuki's "Allgrip" all-wheel-drive system in India along with LED daytime-running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, scuff plates and black-cladding.
- Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Xrest
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Xrest, the crossover like model based on popular tall boy designed hatchback Wagon R, was first seen at Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year. It is now it is being said that the car will take to the roads in early 2015.
Under the bonnet, the new Wagon R avatar is expected to get the same 1.0L K-Series petrol engine, which can churn out a power of 68PS and 90Nm torque, coupled to a five- speed manual transmission.
- Maruti YRA Hatchback
Maruti YRA is the premium hatchback from the company, which is getting ready to take on the likes of Honda's upcoming Jazz and Hyundai's recently launched Elite i20 in India. Although the car has made numerous appearances on the web through spy shots, Maruti has been successful in keeping the key details of the YRA under wraps. However, rumours swirling on the internet suggest that the YRA hatchback is likely to get power from 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel engines, the same as seen in Swift.
The car is likely to get a global unveiling in March 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show and India launch is expected by the end of 2015.
- Maruti YBA Compact SUV
Maruti is also readying a stylish compact SUV for the India market codenamed YBA. The SUV is expected to hit Indian roads in May 2016. In India, the car will challenge Ford's successful EcoSport and is likely to get a starting price of ₹5.5 lakh. As for the engine, the petrol model of the YBA is expected to draw power from the existing K12 and K14 engines, while the diesel version is rumoured to get 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is down-sized version 1.6 litre JTD motor.
