Following the attacks, Agnivesh told media that it was a "murderous assault" and informed that he has requested the police to look into the matter. He further said that he doesn't know why the attackers were angry with him. He also said that the government should have provided him security after he was attacked last month.
The Delhi police rushed to the spot and rescued him immediately. The activist is currently being taken care of by medical professionals in a hospital.
The attack comes close on heels of another such attack on the activist last month when he was assaulted by a mob of the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Jharkhand. Agnivesh had gone to the Littipara stadium in Pakur to attend a programme related to the Paharia tribe. After the attack, he had said that the attack was "state sponsored".
