Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd (SMIL) is set to unveil its naked street bike, Inazuma 250, in India next month.
Atul Gupta, executive vice-president, SMIL has confirmed the development of the bike to the auto magazine Auto car. "We are going to launch the 250cc motorcycle next month (January 2014) and new products to expand our current portfolio in the upcoming Auto Expo 2014. We are equally focusing on the scooters and the motorcycles."
The Inazuma 250, also known as GW250, will arrive in the sub-continent via the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route and will be assembled at Suzuki's Gurgaon facility. The plant currently has a manufacturing capacity of 5, 00,000 units.
On the mechanical front, the Suzuki motorcycle packs a 248cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine which is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It is said to generate a power of 26 bhp and a torque of 24.4 Nm. The bike will be pitted against the KTM Duke 200, Honda CBR250R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Mahindra Mojo, in India.
Suzuki is yet to confirm the other specifications and price details of the Inazuma 250. Reports suggest that the bike may feature telescopic front forks, digital LCD speedometer and 3-mode rpm (Normal mode, Eco mode and off) indicator.
The company, known for its Access 125 and Swish 125 scooters in India, is also planning to expand its scooter and commuter bike portfolio in the country, reported Auto Car. With the launch of a new bike in the 250cc segment, Suzuki hopes to expand its presence in the country.
