Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki's Indonesian subsidiary PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) unveiled GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 motorcycles at the Indonesian Motorcycle Show (IMOS) 2016 held at JCC, Jakarta.
GSX-R150 is a fully faired entry level sports motorcycle of the company, while the GSX-S150 is the naked street fighter sibling, just like KTM RC and Duke sibling. The Suzuki GSX-R150 features a full fairing with revised fuel tank design that has taken inspiration from the litre-class sibling, GSX-R1000. On the other hand, the GSX-S150 gets harp tank extensions that add muscle to the vehicle. Both motorcycles feature same headlight design but different fairings.
Both motorcycles come with features such as LED headlights and digital instrument cluster, while keyless ignition is reserved for GSX-R150. The two bikes are powered by a new 147cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine that develops 18.6bhp at 10,500rpm and 14Nm of torque at 9,000rpm mated to a six-speed transmission.
The GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 measures 1,975mm in length, 1,070mm in height, 1,300mm in wheelbase and a 150mm of ground clearance. The GSX-R150 measures 670mm in width while GSX-S150 is a bit wider by 4mm. it is also heavier by 1 kg over the GSX-R150's kerb weight of 126kg.
Global debut of GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 can be expected at the EICMA show in Milan scheduled from November 10. India launch of both motorcycles is quite uncertain since the Gixxer and Gixxer SF is currently doing healthy sales for the manufacturer. The Gixxer range will be affordable than the GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 and hence Suzuki may stick to the Gixxer range for India.
