After the stellar success of the 150cc Gixxer range in India, the most anticipated motorcycle from Suzuki is the 250cc version that is expected to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. Many render images were doing the rounds on the internet for the past couple of months, which was based on the current Gixxer SF 150.
Now, Japanese forums have leaked the first image of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 which has reportedly been snapped inside the plant. The picture shows the fully-faired SF version and the design is clearly inspired from the Gixxer SF 150. The design for the elder sibling is more muscular and angular and is seen here with Suzuki's racing blue color. The instrument cluster and switch gears are identical to the 150cc model.
The 250cc boasts of clip-on handle bars and split seats that makes the motorcycle more premium and sporty. The picture also shows the motorcycle without graphics that makes it look neat and clean on the design front.
The information on the powertrain is under the wraps now. However, several reports indicate the Gixxer 250 will use the retuned 250cc twin-cylinder engine from the Inazuma motorcycle of Suzuki's stable. The liquid-cooled engine is expected to churn out 25bhp and 24Nm of torque mated to six-speed transmission.
The Gixxer SF 250 will be pitted against the Honda CBR250R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Hero's upcoming HX250R.
