The much-awaited release of Suriya's NGK has been officially postponed, thereby vacating the Diwali release slot. This means Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar will have a solo release in November.
"NGK is our prestigious project. We are humbled and overwhelmed by the support extended by all Suriya sir fans and Selvaraghavan sir fans from day one.
"We assure you all... it is a great entertainer in the making. We are working hard to achieve the best and deliver the same to you at the earliest. This may take a little longer than expected... than projected, so, we will be bringing it to you post Diwali," said the press release from Dream Warrior Pictures.
The press release ends on the note that the makers will announce the new release date soon. However, the buzz is that the Suriya's film will make it to the theatres in December.
Recent reports had suggested that NGK would be postponed as there was a delay in its shooting after director Selvaraghavan underwent a surgery. The director, however, had clarified, "Hi friends. It was a simple medical procedure. I'm perfectly fine and have resumed work. Shooting for #NGK will start in next couple of days. Once again thank you all for your love and concern. (sic)"
NGK is an action thriller in which Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh play female leads.
Diwali Release
Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar will hit the screens on November 6 without any formidable competition this year. In 2017 too, his Mersal had a solo release and set the box office on fire.
However, there is a buzz that Dhanush's long-pending Enai Noki Paayum Thota, directed by Gautham Menon, might be released in November. The shooting has been completed and the post-production works are on. But the makers are yet to open up on their plans.
