Speculations over the release date of Suriya's "Singam 2" have been rife ever since the film's teaser was released, and now we heard that it has been pushed to July.
It was reported that "Singam 2" would be released on 14 June and then on 28 June. But, the release of Telugu actor Ravi Teja's "Balupu" on the same date (28 June) could delay "Singam 2's" release.
The Telugu dubbed version of "Singam 2" titled "Singam" (first part was titled "Yamudu") is scheduled to release simultaneously with the Tamil version. With the arrival of "Balupu", "Singam 2's" release could be pushed further to 5 July, according to latest reports.
However, senior journalist Sreedhar Pillai said that the film has to be released on 28 June as there are no big films getting released outside Tamil Nadu during Ramzan fasting period which begins on 8 July.
"#Singam2 - Release update - Has 2 rel June 28, can't push to July 5 as Ramzan Fasting period starts on July 8. outside TN no biggies rel," Sreedhar tweeted.
The makers of the film are yet to make the official announcement on the release date of the film.
Suriya, who enjoys huge market in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, returns to reprise his role of a tough cop in "Singam 2". He takes on international criminals in the film unlike his role in the prequel - "Singam" - where he fought the local baddies.
Directed by Hari, the sequel has Anushka Shetty and Hansika Motwani in the female lead roles and Hollywood actor Danny Sapani donning the villain's role.
