Suriya's "Singam 2" is gearing up for release on 5 July. The film is dubbed in Telugu and releasing as "Singam -Yamudu 2" on the same date as the Tamil sequel.
Latest buzz is that "Singam 2" is set to be released in Hindi as well. According to reports, the Hindi version of the Suriya-starrer is likely to hit theatres on 12 July as "Singham 2", a week after the Tamil version's release.
"Singam 2" has been made after a span of three years when the original was released. Anushka Shetty, Vivek and Vijayakumar, who were seen in the first part, will reprise their roles in the sequel as well. Additionally, there are new actors in "Singam 2" including Hansika Motwani, Santhanam and Hollywood actor Danny Sapani.
It is to be noted that "Singam", the first part of the cop story, was remade in Hindi as "Singham" with Ajay Devgn reprising the role of a cop named Bajirao Singham. The film became one of the biggest grosser of 2011 and even joined the elite ₹100-crore club.
Earlier, there were speculations as to whether Suriya's "Singam 2" will be remade in Hindi. During a press meet held last month, "Singam" director Hari said that the Hindi makers have a script in hand for the sequel and they might go ahead with it.
"We haven't been approached by the makers of 'Singham' for the remake of 'Singam 2'. However, we hear that they already have a script for the sequel and are most likely to go ahead with it. I will have clarity on this only after they watch our film," Hari once said in media reports.
Director Rohit Shetty, who made "Singham" in Hindi, is currently tied up with the promotional activities of his new film "Chennai Express", starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. "Singham" hero Ajay Devgn is also busy with Prakash Jha's multi-starrer political drama "Satyagraha."
Once the director-actor duo completes its upcoming projects, they will be teaming up for the sequel to "Singham". The film is reportedly expected to go on floors next week. Now that Suriya's "Singam 2" will be released as "Singham 2" in Hindi, it remains to be seen if Rohit Shetty would opt for a different title for his Hindi sequel.
